Getting the most out of My Charnwood
My Charnwood shows you information about council services and facilities in your area, based on the address you enter. You can change the address this website uses by following the 'Change address' link (on the right of the page). My Charnwood will only find information for addresses within Charnwood Borough.
If you can't find what you're looking for straight away, you can search using a keyword in the 'Search' box, or locate local services such as 'school' or 'library' using the 'Find my nearest' box (both on the right of the page).
Using Google Maps
My Charnwood uses Google Maps to display the locations of local facilities and places of interest. When a map is first displayed on a page it is centred on your address, and you can use the controls on the map to zoom in and out and to pan in different directions:

There are also options to use Map view (the normal view), Satellite view (shows satellite imagery of the area) or Terrain (show streets on a relief map).
My Area
This page shows you:
- if you've entered a residential address, which Council Tax band your address is in and how much the Council Tax is this year for your address, with a link for more information
- conditions which affect your address such as Listed Building status and flood risk, indicated by a symbol. Roll the mouse over each symbol for a full description and a link to more information
- if your address is affected by one of these a bold symbol will appear e.g.

- if your address is not affected the symbol will be shaded out, with a red cross e.g.

- if your address is affected by one of these a bold symbol will appear e.g.
- your next refuse, recycling and garden waste collection dates, with a link for more information
- which parish and ward you are in, with links for more information
- who your local Charnwood Borough councillors are, with links for more information
- links to information about your local County Councillor, Member of Parliament (MP) and Members of the European Parliament (MEPs)
- links to statistical information about your neighbourhood, average property prices and local policing
- local news from Charnwood Borough Council

Recycling
This page shows you the location of your nearest recycling facilities, and lists the address of each site, how far it is from your address and what you can recycle there.

Planning
This page shows you the location of undecided planning applications in your area, and lists details of all those within 500m of your address.
You can follow the links for each application for further details in the Council's 'Planning Explorer' - for each application this may include information such as the planning application form, site plans, responses to the consultation (e.g. objections or support for the application) and any applicable planning constraints.

Health
This page gives links to the NHS website which let you search for your nearest health services, such as GPs, dentists and Pharmacies.
Education
This page gives links to the Ofsted website which let you search for your nearest education services, such as schools, colleges and childminders.
Heritage
This page shows you the location of sites of architectural, archaeological, historical or natural interest, and lists details of the nearest ones to your address. These include local listed buildings, archaeological sites, ancient monuments, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, ancient woodlands, historic parks and gardens and sites with protected trees or hedgerows.

These maps display in a new window (or browser tab) and show all the locations in each category across Charnwood Borough. If you have Google Earth installed on your computer, you can follow a link from Google Maps ('View in Google Earth') to display the same locations on Google Earth's satellite imagery.
